Ps119: 9 ¶ How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.
10 ¶ With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!
11 ¶ I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
12 ¶ Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes!
13 ¶ With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. 14 In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. 16 I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.
The truth in scripture is undeniable. the more time you spend in God’s Word, the more you read, meditate on and memorize God’s Word, the more it transforms you into Christ-likeness. No, you will not remember indefinitely all that you memorize and read, but the more you get into God’s Word, the more the Holy Spirit teaches you about who God is, who you are and how all the more reproachable sin is to God. The more you Know God by spending time in His Word, the more you love Him. The more you love Him, the more reproachable sin is to you and the more God’s testimonies will guide your life. The more you memorize at any time in your life the greater the reservoir of scripture the Holy Spirit has to bring to mind in time of need. Not to say that the Holy Spirit cannot give you scripture out of nothing, but when you have read, meditated on and memorized something, you have undeniable confirmation of it’s source and know in your heart you can follow it’s wisdom and guidance with a clear conscience before God and man.
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word…storing your word in my heart…meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.”
