I watch the news and see the shooting, rioting, and protesting that has erupted around the country. It saddens me that people cannot put personal differences aside and live in harmony with one another.
Allow me to quote from Jack Nicholson in Mars Attacks…1

It does not matter what anyone has done or will do for you or to you. It is up to each one of us to live every moment for the glory of God. The life that we have to live is short when viewed from an eternal perspective.
In light of the temporary nature of every moment and every event through which we live, every experience is relatively insignificant on a personal level. Of infinitely greater importance, is the impact and influence that we have on others.
Underlying every motivation for our words and actions should be love.
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8 ESV
This attitude is what Jesus displayed during his earthly ministry. He was willing to endure extreme suffering for the sake of saving those He created and loved. In the same way, God calls us to put aside human passions that provide only short-lived benefit and pleasure and live for the will of God.
Our focus should be on others, allowing ourselves to be the hands and feet of Jesus as a servant and spokesperson for God’s purposes.
9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
By living each day for the glory of God with eternity in view, one can more easily endure momentary trials, inconveniences, and suffering.
The more an individual adopts this attitude, the less important momentary pleasures and personal endeavors become, and the easier it is to put God and others first.
Live now with eternity in view.
