Humility is significantly lacking in our society today. We pride ourselves on our accomplishments and what we can achieve in life.
And, as humans, there is a lot that we can do. The Sky’s the limit for many things, and it is fantastic to see the innovation that has come from the imaginations of men and women throughout history.
I have always enjoyed watching Indiana Jones movies. In “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, Indy had to conquer a series of trials to obtain access to the Cup of Christ. His first challenge drove him to his knees, a show of repentance and humility, to avoid impending death.
In a very real sense, pride will lead many in our world to their deaths.
Jesus came to give life and to give it abundantly. His death and resurrection on the cross paved the way for our salvation.
It is now our responsibility to lay aside our pride, repent of the sin that inherently condemns the human race, and humbly accept God’s gift of salvation in the name of Jesus Christ, honoring Him as savior and Lord.
No matter how far we advance in society and the human race collectively, we cannot save ourselves from sin, and are condemned to eternal suffering in hell. The gift of God, however, Jesus Christ’s sacrificial offering of his own body on the cross, saves us if we turn to God for forgiveness and restoration.
Jesus said…, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
-John 14:6
But each individual must personally accept the gift. So humbly accept his gift today and live with hope and encouragement throughout this life and all eternity.
For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.
-Psalm 149:4
