Do you have any semblance of faith in Jesus?
What does He mean to you?
Is He a role model, a fictional character in folklore, or an actual historical figure?
Is He merely a good teacher or almighty God of the universe?
Do you claim that He died on the cross and rose again to provide salvation to humankind?
Do you believe you can know Him personally and that a relationship with Him is real and possible?
If you say that you love God and prioritize a relationship with Jesus, does your life demonstrate that?
Think about your next twenty-four hours.
What do you want to accomplish?
How do you structure your day to accomplish that?
Is Jesus anywhere on that list?
If Jesus is important, He should be, but is He?
Now think about your last twenty-four to forty-eight hours.
Where was Jesus?
I know He was always there, but did you give Him any attention?
Do you go to church religiously but leave Jesus inside the church’s doors?
Do you go days or weeks without giving Him a thought?
If you interacted with Jesus, in prayer or through God’s word, was it intentional and planned, or did something drive you to your knees in desperation only after exhausting your resources?
Was this encounter days, weeks, or months in the making, or a minor disturbance in your life?
What have you accomplished or planned to do that you are giving higher priority than Jesus in your life?
God has given us a book, the Bible, so we can know Him and His Son, Jesus.
How often do you read it?
Daily?
Multiple times a day?
Only at church?
Or maybe not at all?
Do you rely on others to tell you what it says?
Do you think you know what it says and believe it has nothing more to give you that you need? (Frankly, if you believe this, your understanding tells me you don’t know what it contains.)
God gave us His word and orchestrated its deliverance because He wants us to know Him personally!
What is preventing you from picking it up and reading for yourself?
What gets in the way?
I urge you to prioritize Jesus and the Kingdom of God.
You can do this by setting aside dedicated time for prayer and Bible reading.
Set reminders to keep you on track, or join a Bible study group for accountability.
Our lives are short, and our earthly successes and possessions are unimportant compared with eternity in God’s presence.
If you do not know Jesus personally, pray and ask God to enter your life powerfully and purposefully so that you can know Him intimately.
Accept the gift of Jesus’ death and resurrection as your irrevocable ticket to eternity, and cling to the promises of scripture you read and apply.
Then regularly pick up God’s word and increase your knowledge and understanding of who He is.
Treat Jesus like the cool kid on the block that you admire and want to emulate.
Tag along beside Him and incorporate His teaching into everything you do.
Ultimately, pleasing God and Jesus should motivate you to accomplish greatness, not for yourself but for the glory of God, who loved you before you were born and paved the way through Jesus to save you!
This world and all it contains are destined for destruction; only Jesus can save you!
Pray to God, and enter into an eternal relationship with Jesus today.
Prioritize that relationship and live for Jesus until He calls you home!
His return is imminent. It could be a hundred or a thousand years from now.
But it could just as easily be today!
And you never know how long you have to live.
We plan for retirement and living to old age, but an accident or illness can take us quickly.
Are you ready to let go of all you’ve ever had in life?
Do you want something solid and secure that you will never lose for all eternity?
A relationship with Jesus can be that for you!
Please don’t wait until it is too late.
