Today, I will continue to break down Psalm 96 in the Reflections on Eternity series.
4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and glory are in his sanctuary.
God, as revealed to us in the Bible, is the one and only God. He is not like any other god of other religions, which the Bible claims are worthless idols.
The God of the Bible is exclusive and incompatible with the methodologies and teachings of other faiths.
He is great and worthy of praise. All power as creator and sustainer of the created world belongs to Him
He rules over heaven and earth, splendor and majesty emanating from His throne. Heaven and earth display His strength and glory.
Therefore…
7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts!
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;[a]
tremble before him, all the earth!
God is eternal, existing outside of time and space. He never changes. He is consistently holy, righteous, and good in all that He is and does.
He is worthy of worship and praise!
