Today, I am going to begin a series of short posts entitled Reflections on Eternity.

The other day, I read Psalm 96, and the implications and truths I saw directly correlate with an eternal view of life. I have not been able to get this Psalm off of my mind since, and I am excited to share my thoughts.

96 Sing to the Lord a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
    proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

An eternal mindset enables one to see the temporary nature of his or her earthly life. Compared with eternity, our lives are like a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. The more one reflects on eternity, the less significant things of this life become, and the more one can rejoice over the salvation that God provides through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

An eternal mindset enables one to more easily endure the trials of this life and puts into perspective the accomplishments we achieve.

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day.
